MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Surveillance footage obtained by Fox13 News shows the moment crooks broke into the Hibbett Sports at the Southland Mall in Whitehaven.

“Oh my God,” was Jasmine Hayes’ response, a mall customer who watched the footage.

The video shows multiple thieves snatching thousands of dollars’ worth of new Air Jordans, Chicago Puffer jackets, women’s Champion clothing, NBA jerseys and other Nike merchandise.

Police said when they arrived, they noticed a white Chrysler 300 speeding off.  A source close to the case said police at some point decided to call off the pursuit of the vehicle.

A local economist said burglaries like the one at Hibbett Sports have the potential of costing customers in the end.

He said there are added insurance premiums and marketing costs that have to come from somewhere.

This is not the first robbery like this in recent times.

December 5th, officers said crooks burglarized a City Gear on Frasier Blvd.  Police said the same crooks returned two days later and robbed the same business.

Investigators arrested Daniel and Darnell Grayer in connection with that case.

Officers have not said whether they believe the City Gear and Hibbett Sports cases are connected.
