With the end of the hurricane season, Tulane University students should not be fooled into thinking that the unpredictable crazy weather in Louisiana is over. In fact, Tulane University students should start preparing wardrobes for all seasons.

Louisiana is known for its sporadic weather patterns in winter. Wrongly, I wore a warm sweater and turtleneck sweater to class, believing that the weather app said the temperature outside New Orleans was 55 degrees, but it actually felt 75 degrees.

Pro tip: Don’t believe the predictions of the bold letters staring at you on your phone screen. Instead, scroll to the bottom of the weather app to check the "How does it actually feel" column to determine if it is a sweater weather type day.

1. Recommended for cool and fit styling

Like most wearers of Gen Z leggings, my leggings are very worn out. They have become a must-have in the closet and are reliable in cold and humid weather. But with the popularity of the flared trend in the 1960s and its renewed popularity, I suggest investing in a pair of flared yoga pants in the coming winter.

I am definitely not suggesting to give up your favorite straight leg high-waisted leggings. As of now, classic leggings are expected to remain popular for some time. Instead, replace old dyed gray sweatpants and overused jogging pants. Take inspiration from New York street fashion and choose a pair of colorful wide-leg sweatpants to rock the classroom.

As Princess Diana's biker shorts and sweatshirt combination regained popularity, influential people wore tight biker shorts jumpsuits to add to our Instagram feed a lot—an upgraded version of Diana's iconic workout clothes. If sports and leisure are more in line with your style, please consider the leotard version.

2. Recommended for comfortable and chic winter outfits

The Sherpa jacket, which became popular again by Emma Chamberlain, officially withdrew from the fashion circle. In the past few weeks, I have noticed that the campus has changed and people prefer leather. However, you don't have to compromise your Sherpa obsession with a thin and cold leather jacket-instead, consider buying a leather jacket lined with faux fur, which is the perfect combination of cool and comfortable beauty.

Since the winter in Louisiana may not be as cold for the native Northwest Duran students, some people may want a more relaxed and relaxing class. Although it may be tempting to wear a vest hidden deep in the bottom of the wardrobe, try putting a fun tailored long-sleeved top, dress, skirt or pants together. Designers such as Coperni, Mugler and Dion Lee have added hollow designs to the 2021 autumn and winter collections this season. So, for our cold-blooded students, don't be shy!

3. Indie and instyle winter style recommendations

If you want a style that is more laid-back and inspired by street fashion, because it will inevitably become hot and humid, I suggest you master the art of clever layering. Hot weather and stratification seem to be contradictory in theory. However, through years of experience, I have some suggestions for adding textures and layers that won't make you sweat.

You no longer need to wear a long-sleeved turtleneck under your favorite oversized T-shirt or frugal crew pullover. Brands such as Skim and stores such as Everlane brought back imitation high-necked catsuits and crop tops. To find a cheap vintage turtleneck sweater from your local thrift store, just cut off the sleeves and cut it to the length you want.

Second, the best way to match any summer dress or skirt is to match it with your favorite lace or transparent suspender dress. Recover a dark short skirt from the summer wardrobe and match it with a bright color suspender skirt to show personality and three-dimensionality.

If you want to make your look more layered and don't want to sweat, then wear transparent and breathable tights. Personally, I keep fishing nets exclusively for Halloween and Carnival. If you like transparent tights for everyday wear like I do, then use a patterned tight design to add interest to the outdated plain transparent tights. This winter, many brands such as Savage X Fenty and stores such as Anthropologie have placed uniquely designed transparent leggings on their shelves.
