The Good Housekeeping Institute Textiles Lab is comprised of fabric and fashion experts who have reviewed and tested all types of apparel pieces, including rompers, workout leggings, travel dresses and more. To evaluate faux leather pants and leggings, GH analysts had testers in a variety of sizes try popular styles before completing a survey to give feedback on fit, comfort, style and more. GH pros also reviewed the different types of materials and fibers used in faux leather pants to help inform your shopping choices.

✔️ Material: While there are different types of vegan leather used in handbags and other accessories, most faux leather pants are made with synthetic material that has a coating for a shiny leather-like look. Many featured styles are made with polyester blend fabrics with a polyurethane coating. For additional comfort, opt for materials with spandex or elastane for a bit of stretch.

✔️ Fit: Just like any pants, faux leather pants are available with different fits like skinny, wide leg, cropped, legging and more. Some styles offer short or tall inseams, which were very popular among our testers.

✔️ Care label: While some faux leather pants are machine washable and dryer safe, others require hand washing or dry cleaning. Follow the care label closely to ensure they stay in great condition wear after wear.

Testers wore faux leather pants to all sorts of occasions. Some styled them for casual office environments while others wore them on dates and out to dinner. Many testers paired faux leather pants with a bodysuit or fitted top and a blazer or sweater. Just like jeans, faux leather pants are extremely versatile and can easily be styled up and down. Testers did note that they found faux leather pants to run hot overall and feel uncomfortable when sweaty, so we recommend saving them for colder months.
